BOB Alterrain and Alterrain Pro Stroller Review
Hi, I’m Amy, owner of Strolleria. We’re at the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas showing you the new BOB Alterrain and Alterrain Pro strollers. The Alterrain Series is coming to strolleria.com in January, 2020.
The new Alterrain Series adds performance and convenience features to BOB’s popular line of jogging strollers. The Alterrain has air filled tires and a robust suspension system for the smoothest ride while running or going over tough terrain, but it also makes for an everyday stroller with features like car seat compatibility and a one handed fold.
BOB is releasing two versions of the stroller, the Alterrain and the Alterrain pro, which has upgraded features like a handbrake, waterproof fabrics, and a zippered basket. Both strollers will be released in January 2020 for $499 to $569.
The Alterrain has the smoothest ride thanks to spring loaded shocks in the frame of the stroller, similar to those on a mountain bike, as well as steel ball bearings in the wheels. The front wheel can swivel or lock for added stability. You can adjust the handlebar to nine positions and recline the seat to multiple angles ranging from a near flat position to an upright position. In addition to a large storage basket, the stroller has five extra pockets, including a place to keep your cell phone handy.
The Alterrain is the base model of the stroller while the Alterrain Pro costs $50 more because of these added features. A handbrake for speed control on hills, a zippered basket to keep your belongings secure, reflective details on the wheels for added visibility, a peekaboo window with both a plastic panel and ventilation, and fabrics that are 100% waterproof to protect your child in any weather.
Both the Alterrain and Alterrain Pro fold in one step using only one hand. Lift up the seat fabric and press the yellow button while twisting the bar. The stroller folds and locks automatically and it stands when folded for easier lifting. To unfold push the button on the side of the seat and lift the stroller back into place.
Both strollers feature athletic fabrics and an ultra padded compression seat for added comfort. The seat has a no-rethread harness and a hip wrap to keep your child secure while you’re running. A peekaboo window in the canopy has ventilation and closes with magnets. The Alterrain comes in softer colors with melange fabrics, black, teal, lilac, and gray. The Alterrain Pro has sportier colors and waterproof fabrics in black, olive, blue and lunar, which includes glow in the dark details on the canopy and basket.
You can turn your Alterrain or Alterrain Pro into a travel system by purchasing adapters that attach to your car seat. Both strollers are compatible with car seats for Britax, BOB, Chicco, Graco, and Peg-Perego. In summer 2020, BOB will also release adapters for Nuna, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi and UPPAbaby car seats.
